Established in June 2006, the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations is a prominent Iranian think tank and advisory body that reports directly to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
It is distinguished by its strategic, long-term perspective on foreign relations, providing high-level analysis and counsel on matters of national interest and international diplomacy.
Dr. Kharrazi also served as the foreign minister from 20 August 1997 to 24 August 2005 and as a member of the Expediency Discernment Council.
His martyrdom came amid the US-Israeli war of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which started on February 28 and claimed more than 2,000 lives.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and some top-ranking government officials and military commanders were also martyred in the aggression.
