UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese roasted over critical comments

Francesca Albanese, the United Nations special rapporteur for occupied Palestinian territory, ended up in the eye of a storm after critical comments at a forum in Qatar organized by the Al Jazeera network.

Following her speech, four European governments, namely those of France, Germany, Austria and Italy, all unconditional supporters of the Israeli genocide in Gaza, demanded Albanese's resignation for calling Israel a common enemy of humanity.

The four governments had cited a false video as justification for their move. In fact, Albanese did not really target the Israeli regime in her speech, she went far beyond that.

Albanese had said, the common enemy of humanity is the system that made the genocide in Palestine possible, including the financial capital that finances it, the algorithms that obscure it, and the weapons that make it possible.

Journalists and experts have supported the UN official, saying calls for her resignation show the credibility of Western governments keeps collapsing in real time.

I am afraid the West has entered an unprecedented time of decadence.

I don't even know what Western values really are today.

These attacks on Francesca Albanese are the result of a forgery by a pro-Israel NGO called UN Watch that rants against all those who defend the Palestinian cause.

The video this NGO has circulated is a fake.

What's the political significance of all this? A simple thing, the West backs the Israeli genocide and occupation, period.

The more the Epstein files are released, the more people understand the reasons behind this unconditional support by Western governments for Israel's devilish strategies.

Meanwhile, a UN Human Rights Office spokesperson expressed concern that UN officials, independent experts and judicial officials are increasingly subjected to personal attacks, threats and misinformation that "distracts from the serious human rights issues."

The Italian government, which has so far supported Israel's genocide in Gaza, has never expressed support for Francesca Albanese, who holds Italian nationality.

In October last year, Italy's government even challenged the impartiality of the UN Special Rapporteur following her report dubbed 'an international genocide'.

I am truly astonished that Italy's Prime Minister Meloni has never once condemned Israel's massacres of children and women in Gaza, and yet she used to say, in her electoral campaign speeches, that she is a mother, she is a Christian.

Meloni even used to talk in defense of Palestinian rights when she was sitting on the opposition benches.

But she has completely changed attitude since she made it to the government.

This comes as Italy's Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has said Rome will continue its commitment to implement the so-called Gaza peace plan and reconstruction of the strip, which also involves the Italian private sector.
