IOF attacks Gaza and Lebanon
Israeli forces have launched fresh attacks against Gaza in another violation of the October ceasefire deal. According to medical sources, four people have been killed during the past day and eight bodies have been recovered from under the rubble. Israeli forces carried out heavy attacks against the eastern side of al Tuffah and al Shujaya neighborhoods in Gaza City. Warplanes also hit Khan Yunis and Rafah, both of them in southern Gaza. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the number of Palestinians killed since the October ceasefire has surged to 405 with more than 1,100 others injured. That raises the death toll among the Palestinians since the Israeli genocide in October 2023 to nearly 71,000. Crossing over to Lebanon where Israel has violated the ceasefire again, this time killing three more people in the south. A former army soldier, a journalist and a civilian were killed in the attack. The regime conducted an airstrike on a vehicle in the village of Quneitra in the Saida district. This, following two airstrikes on Sunday that killed one person and injured two. Despite the ceasefire that went into effect in November 2024, Israel has been launching air raids against Lebanon on a near-daily basis. According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, at least three-hundred-forty people have been killed in such attacks.
Trump Greenland appointment slammed
The European Union has condemned President Trump’s appointment of a Greenland envoy, insisting that Denmark’s territorial integrity and sovereignty including Greenland must be preserved.” EU spokesperson El Anouni’s remarks follow Denmark’s decision to summon the US ambassador over the appointment. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen says he is deeply angered by the choice of Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry. Landry has praised plans to make Greenland a part of the US Rasmussen demands Washington respect Danish sovereignty while confirming the US ambassador will be summoned for an explanation. Trump has repeatedly threatened to annex Greenland, claiming the resource rich island is vital for US security. Leaders of both Denmark and Greenland have rejected the idea, stressing the Arctic territory is not for sale.
Thailand calls for 'true ceasefire'
Bangkok has accused Washington of rushing the ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia to fit Trump’s schedule. The Thai foreign minister made the remarks at a summit in Kuala Lumpur where foreign ministers of Southeast Asian nations have gathered to salvage the July ceasefire between the warring neighbors. He added that defense officials from both countries will meet on Wednesday to discuss reviving the truce. Bangkok wants what it calls a true ceasefire backed by firm commitments, a detailed implementation plan, and de-mining efforts from Phnom Penh. China says it will continue mediation efforts to resolve the issue through dialogue. The fighting which was reignited in early December, has killed at least 80 people and displaced more than half a million on both sides of the border.
