US violating intl. law
Iran’s foreign minister has condemned the US threat to use force against Venezuela as a blatant violation of international law and the UN charter. In a phone call with the Venezuelan foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi said the international community is duty-bound to strongly oppose such illegal measures and the US unilateralism. Araghchi said Washington’s moves against maritime security in the Caribbean and Venezuela pose a clear threat to international peace and stability. Yvan Eduardo Gil Pinto, for his part, thanked Iran for its solidarity with the people and government of Venezuela against the US threats and illegal sanctions against his country. He said Venezuela is determined to defend its national sovereignty and independence. The talks come as the Caribbean is seeing an unprecedented US military build-up in preparation for a likely invasion of Venezuela.
Israel West Bank crimes
Hamas resistance group has called on Palestinians to intensify resistance against the Israeli regime following the killing of two Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. Hamas, in a statement, urged Palestinian youth in the West Bank to expand their struggle against the regime to stop its brutal crimes against Palestinians and their holy sites. It came after the regime forces killed two more Palestinians in the occupied territory. According to local sources, a child was killed after being shot by Israeli forces’ live fire during a raid on the town of Qabatiya, south of Jenin. A 22-year-old man was also fatally shot during a raid on the town of Silat al-Harithiya, west of Jenin. The new deaths increased to 62 the overall death toll from the regime’s military aggression against Jenin and its refugee camp, which started in January.
Thailand Cambodia conflict
Cambodia says deadly border clashes with Thailand have displaced over 500,000 people in the country. Cambodia’s interior ministry says two weeks of attacks by Thailand have forced 518,000 people from their homes, amid artillery shelling and airstrikes. Thailand has also confirmed the displacement of around 400,000 people due to the conflict. The fighting between Southeast Asian neighbors, which stems from a territorial dispute over border demarcation and the ownership of ancient temple ruins, has also led to 22 deaths in Thailand and 19 in Cambodia. Each side blames the other for triggering the renewed clashes. They follow five days of cross-border attacks that killed dozens in July. That episode ended with a short-lived ceasefire.
