Gaza ceasefire violations
Israel continues its attacks on Gaza in violation of a ceasefire deal with the resistance group Hamas. The regime has launched nearly a dozen airstrikes on the southern city of Khan Yunis since early this morning. This is despite Tel Aviv’s earlier claim that it had returned to the ceasefire after a large wave of attacks across the Strip left over 100 people dead. The IOF is also carrying out demolition operations on residential homes in the eastern areas of Gaza City. The US-Israeli genocidal war began in October 2023 and has so far claimed over 68,600 lives in Gaza.
Israel's attacks on Lebanon
Israeli forces have launched new airstrikes on Lebanon hours after storming two towns in the country’s south. The air raids targeted the mountains surrounding the town of Jarmaq and the Mahmoudiya area. No casualties have been reported yet. The regime claims that it targeted a Hezbollah tunnel and launcher. Earlier on Thursday, IOF attacked the town of Odaisseh and blew up a building. Separately, regime forces raided the town of Blida with several military vehicles and drones. They attacked the municipal building, killing an employee. Some reports suggest he was executed in cold blood. Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the raid, calling it an attack on state institutions and the country’s sovereignty. He called on ceasefire mediators to exert pressure on Israel to stop its violations.
Trump-Xi summit
US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping have held their first meeting in six years, seeking a truce in an escalating trade war. The meeting took place in the South Korean port city of Busan on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. After the talks, Trump said many decisions were made, including the reduction of Fentanyl tariffs on China to 10-percent and that Beijing will resume buying US soybeans immediately. The US president added that he would be going to China in April and Xi would visit the US shortly after. Xi also hailed basic consensus and encouraging progress reached by the two sides in the talks, saying it provided the necessary conditions for their meeting. The trade war between China and the US was reignited earlier this month after Beijing proposed dramatically expanding curbs on exports of rare earth minerals. Trump vowed to retaliate with additional 100 percent tariffs on Chinese exports.
