Gaza ceasefire day 2

The death toll in the Gaza Strip continues to rise despite the implementation of a ceasefire in the Palestinian territory. According to Gaza’s health ministry, the bodies of at least 151 Palestinians have been transferred to hospitals over the past day. Some 116 of those were recovered from under the rubble of buildings destroyed in earlier Israeli strikes. The death toll in Gaza since October 2023 stands at nearly 67,700. Most of the fatalities are women and children. The ceasefire in Gaza appears to be holding as tens of thousands of Palestinians return to devastated towns and cities in the north.

London pro-Palestine rally

Hundreds of people have rallied in the British capital London to express support for the Palestinian people. The protesters welcomed the Gaza ceasefire agreement but expressed doubt about Israel respecting it. The demonstrators also demanded the UK government stop arming the Israeli regime.

Israel Lebanon strikes

In yet another Israeli violation of a ceasefire agreement, at least one person has been killed following an aerial attack on southern Lebanon. Local media say an Israeli drone targeted a vehicle in the town of Qalaouiyeh. One person was reportedly killed. The Hezbollah resistance movement slammed the assault, saying the move is part of Israeli plans to prevent people from returning to normal life. The group also called on the Lebanese government to fulfill its responsibility in protecting civilians. On Friday night, at least one person was killed and seven others were injured in an Israeli airstrike in the village of al-Najariyah in Sidon district. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun denounced the attack as heinous aggression against civilian sites with no justification or pretext. Despite a ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024, Israel continues to launch attacks and maintain military presence in five strategic locations in southern Lebanon.
