Harvest supermoon lights up Pakistan's coastal city Karachi

A "Harvest Supermoon," one of the year's largest and brightest celestial displays, illuminated the skies over Pakistan's coastal city of Karachi , drawing crowds eager to capture the phenomenon on their phones.

In Karachi, residents on Monday (October 6) flocked to popular spots, including Sea View and Clifton Beach, to witness the glowing moon rise over the horizon, its reflection stretching across the water.

"It's not every day you get to see this view. This opportunity only comes once a year, so we came to enjoy it... and take some selfies. We had an amazing time," said Umair Aslam, a local resident.

Another observer, Mohammad Qaisar, described the event as "a deeply charming event" that "brought great happiness to everyone who witnessed it."

This full moon, referred to as the "Harvest Moon" due to its proximity to the autumn equinox, is classified as a "supermoon" and is expected to reach its peak brightness at 03:47 GMT on Tuesday, October 7.

The event, which occurs when a full moon coincides with the moon's closest approach to Earth, known as perigee, makes the moon appear significantly larger and brighter than usual.
