Israel killing Gaza aid seekers

Gaza witnesses more death and destruction amid the Israeli genocide, with aid distribution centers turning into regular death traps for Palestinian aid seekers. In one of the latest attacks, Israeli forces opened fire on aid seekers near the Zikim area, northern Gaza, killing several of them. In Khan Yunis, southern Gaza, a similar attack on Palestinians seeking aid killed at least seven people, and injured several others. The regime also targeted Gaza with air and artillery strikes. One of the latest strikes targeted a house in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, killing and injuring several people. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, the number of aid seekers killed during the past 24 hours has reached 65, raising the total number of hungry people killed while seeking food aid to nearly 1,500. The US-Israeli genocide, which began in October 2023, has so far killed more than 60,800 Palestinians, leaving nearly 149,600 others injured.

Israeli crimes in Gaza

The UN Human Rights Office in the occupied Palestine has slammed the continued killings of emergency workers in Gaza, amid Israel’s unrelenting strikes across the territory. In a social media post, the office said deliberate killings of humanitarian workers may amount to war crimes. It is reported that nearly 50 members of the Palestine Red Crescent and nearly 140 Civil Defense workers have been killed in Gaza. The office highlighted an August 3 attack, where the Israeli military targeted a Red Crescent facility, killing one person and injuring at least three others. The statement emphasized that humanitarian workers are risking their lives to provide life-saving aid. It called for an independent investigation into all civilian deaths in the war-torn territory. According to the Palestine Red Crescent, since the war began in Gaza, Israel has killed 51 staff members and volunteers, including nearly 30 people who were killed while carrying out humanitarian duties.

Plight of Palestinian abductees

Palestinian prisoners' rights organizations say Israeli forces have abducted over 1,800 Palestinians across the occupied West Bank since the Gaza genocide started in October 2023. In a joint statement, three prisoners’ rights groups reported a sharp rise in abductions, leading to the incarceration of at least 570 Palestinian women from various parts of the occupied territories. They said at least 1,500 children have been abducted during the same period, in addition to nearly two-hundred journalists, 49 of whom are still in jail. According to the statement, at least 75 Palestinians have died in Israeli prisons since October 2023, 46 of them from Gaza. Israeli forces also loot Palestinians’ homes while abducting them, seizing vehicles, cash, and gold jewelry. Infrastructure has also been systematically destroyed, especially in Tulkarm and Jenin refugee camps, alongside the demolition of homes belonging to detainees' families.
