Two armed terrorists affiliated with the Mujahedin-e-Khalq (MKO) group have been executed by hanging after being convicted of multiple terrorist operations targeting state institutions and public places in the Iranian capital, the Iranian Judiciary has announced.

Babak Alipour and Pouya Qobadi, both active members of an MKO terrorist cell operating inside the country, were sentenced to death for the crime of waging war against the state following legal procedures and confirmation of the verdict by the Supreme Court.

According to the statement, the convicted terrorists, guided by the MKO, used launcher weapons to attack sensitive centers and public buildings in Tehran.

Alipour had traveled from Gilan province to the capital to carry out a terrorist operation.

He fired four explosive devices with a launcher weapon at a state building, of which only two exploded.

After the attack, Alipour hid for three days in an MKO safe house before being identified and apprehended by intelligence operatives.

Explosive device components were discovered at the hideout.

He was also involved in a launcher attack on the entrance of the Ministry of Intelligence building alongside other MKO elements, including Mohammad Taqavi and Akbar Daneshvarkar, both of whom have been executed.

Smuggling attempt and training abroad

Pouya Qhobadi was arrested while attempting to illegally cross the border from the city of Mahabad in West Azarbaijan province to a neighboring country.

According to the investigation, the MKO command had ordered him to receive training abroad to lead a terrorist network inside Iran.

Qobadi had been constructing explosive packages at an MKO safe house prior to his capture.

Both were charged with acts of sedition, membership in a terrorist group, illegal exit from the country, use of launchers to damage public property, and conspiring with the MKO’s command via Telegram messaging app to undermine national security.

The court based its verdict on detailed intelligence reports, confessions, seized weapons, and other evidence, according to the Judiciary statement.
