'Stop genocide in Gaza'

More than 100 human rights groups have called on the UN Security Council to stop the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza, end the blockade, and save the lives of millions of Palestinians. In a petition addressed to the Security Council, the groups called on the world body to take immediate action to stop the crime of genocide and systematic killing of Palestinians by starvation and deprivation of water. They said such crimes constitute collective punishment, which is criminalized by international law. The petition said Gaza is facing an ongoing war of genocide for nearly six-hundred days, amidst its dire humanitarian and health conditions. The groups said the current situation is due to the continued blockade of Gaza, the closure of all crossings to various types of humanitarian aid, and the complete prevention of fuel entry into Gaza. The groups stressed that this has led to an unprecedented deterioration in the humanitarian and health conditions, undermining all aspects of life and basic services in the territory.

Gaza aid blockade

The European Commission has renewed its call on Israel to immediately lift its total ban on delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, warning that using aid as a tool of war is prohibited under International Humanitarian Law. The Commission’s statement said no humanitarian supplies have entered Gaza for over two months, warning that hunger is rapidly spreading and deepening across the territory. It noted that UN agencies, including WFP and UNRWA, have reported that food stocks are depleted and most Gazans lack access to safe water. The statement said tons of aid, enough to support Gaza’s population for three months, are stranded at its crossings. The European Commission emphasized that, as the occupying power, Israel is obligated under international law to ensure humanitarian aid reaches those in need. It also condemned the regime’s newly approved aid distribution mechanism, which shifts responsibility to non-humanitarian actors and private security contractors. The commission urged Israel not to politicize or militarize the delivery of humanitarian aid.

Rejecting anti-Iran allegations

Iran has categorically rejected Western media reports about Iranian nationals’ involvement in an alleged plot to target the Israeli embassy in London. In a social media post, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran has not been officially informed of such allegations via proper diplomatic channels. He noted that there have always been third parties seeking to sabotage diplomacy and provoke escalation through desperate measures, including false-flag operations. Araghchi reiterated Tehran’s readiness to cooperate in any probe to clarify the facts. Iran's top diplomat noted that the timing of the allegations and lack of engagement on the part of the UK suggest that something is wrong. He also urged British authorities to ensure due process for the detained Iranian citizens. His remarks came after on Sunday, the London police arrested several Iranian citizens in two separate operations, over an alleged plot to attack Israel’s embassy.
