Iran-US indirect talks
Iran says it’s deeply skeptical about US intentions in the two countries’ indirect negotiations. The Iranian foreign minister reiterated that the indirect talks will only revolve around Tehran’s nuclear program, adding that Washington’s maximum pressure and military threats leave no room for direct negotiations. Speaking in a joint presser with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow, Araghchi said an agreement can be reached if the US doesn’t have unreasonable, unrealistic demands. Lavrov, for his part, expressed Russia's willingness to play a constructive role in the negotiations. He underscored that discussions between Iran and the US should remain focused on nuclear issues, warning that those attempting to shift the focus to other matters are undermining the talks.
US-Israeli genocide in Gaza
The Israeli military continues its relentless bombardment of Gaza, inflicting further casualties and widespread destruction across the Palestinian territory. Since dawn on Friday, at least 50 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes targeting multiple areas of the Gaza Strip. More than half of the casualties were in Gaza City and northern Gaza. Four Palestinians, including two children, lost their lives in an Israeli strike on al-Saftawi area. A child was also among four Palestinians killed when the regime struck a barbershop in downtown Khan Yunis, in southern Gaza. The death toll from Israel’s genocidal war on the besieged enclave has now exceeded 51,000 with more than 116,500 others wounded since the genocidal war began in October 2023.
