Nasrallah funeral on February 23

The Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah, has confirmed that the funeral ceremony for its leader Sayed Hassan Nasrallah will be held later this month. Sheikh Qassem hailed Nasrallah as a role model and true icon who captured the hearts of the Lebanese nation. The Hezbollah leader added that the funeral ceremony for Nasrallah’s successor, Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, will also be held on February 23 but at a different location. Elsewhere in his speech, Sheikh Qassem said the Israeli attacks in Lebanon are not just ceasefire violations, but an initial aggression. He called on the Lebanese government to deal with the issue firmly. He said Hezbollah has so far been exercising patience in the face of Israeli aggression to allow the Lebanese government to handle ceasefire affairs. However, Sheikh Qassem warned that Hezbollah will act as it sees fit at the appropriate time.

Israel ceasefire violations

Israeli forces have attacked the Gaza strip again, repeatedly violating the ceasefire agreement that was enforced two weeks ago. The regime’s military launched an air attack against a civilian vehicle along Gaza’s coastal road in the central part of the strip. A Palestinian child was killed while several others were wounded. Other attacks have also been reported in the south. The Gaza health ministry has reported a dozen bodies taken to hospitals in the past 24 hours. Some were found under the rubble and some were those of the injured who succumbed to death. Many Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas took effect on January 19. The death toll from the genocidal war on Gaza has risen to nearly 47,500 since October 2023.

Israel West Bank bombings

Israel’s campaign of violence continues against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank with the regime simultaneously blowing up a large number of buildings in the city of Jenin. At least 20 homes are believed to have been destroyed in the explosions. Israel has been conducting a major military assault on the occupied West Bank over the past two weeks. Earlier, Israeli forces shot dead an elderly Palestinian at the entrance of the city’s refugee camp. Reacting to Israel’s detonation of buildings in Jenin, the Palestinian Resistance group, Hamas said in a statement that continued crimes of the occupying regime in Jenin will not break the will of the Palestinian nation. Hamas said these extensive explosions indicate the continued policy of genocide against the Palestinian nation in the occupied West Bank.
