The Iranian Foreign Ministry has summoned the ambassadors of Britain, France, and Germany to question their "irresponsible stance" regarding the Islamic Republic’s retaliatory strikes on the occupied territories.

The British, French and German ambassadors, Simon Shercliff, Nicolas Roche and Hans-Udo Muzel, respectively, were summoned separately to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the director general of the Western Europe Department, the ministry said in a statement on Sunday

It added that certain officials of the three countries had made irresponsible statements regarding Iran's reciprocal response to Israel's actions against the Iranian nationals and interests, the latest was the regime's "cowardly" attack on the Islamic Republic's diplomatic premises in the Syrian capital of Damascus earlier this month.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched extensive missile and drone strikes against the occupied territories late on Saturday in response to Israel’s deadly attack in Syria on April 1.

Iran hit a large intelligence base in the occupied lands and Israel’s Nevatim Airbase, from where an F-35 jet took off to target Iran’s consulate in Damascus.

A senior commander of the IRGC Quds Force, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, and his deputy General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi were among the seven Iranian martyrs of Israel's missile attack on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry official said Israel has carried out a series of anti-human measures in violation of international law and regulations.

He added that Iran's strikes against Israel's military bases late Saturday night were "in line with the country's inalienable right of legitimate defense stipulated in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and in response to the series of crimes" committed by Israel, especially its recent attack in Damascus.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran once again reaffirmed its adherence to the principles and goals of the United Nations Charter as well as international law and is determined to resolutely defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests in the face of any illegal use of force," the Iranian diplomat emphasized.

He said Iran has always carried out constructive and effective measures and proved that it seeks to prevent any escalation of tensions.

"However, in case of the continuation of the Zionist regime's adventurism, Iran will vigorously defend the sovereignty, security and peace of its people to protect its legitimate interests against any aggressive military actions," he pointed out.

The ambassadors of the three European countries said they would convey Iran’s protest to their respective countries.
