Africa’s response to Gaza

The Israeli regime's genocidal war on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip has generated the worst humanitarian crisis in the blockaded territory. More than 15,500 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes, most of them women and children.

Now 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza are facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis after nearly two months of relentless and indiscriminate Israeli bombings. The situation is dire and the international community, especially Arab and African countries, continue calling for a permanent ceasefire to stop the Israeli genocidal war against civilians in the blockaded territory.

South Africa welcomed a humanitarian pause in Gaza, but called for more efforts toward a long-term and enduring peace in Palestine. Gaza borders Africa and several African countries have dispatched aid to Palestinians there. Africa has a long history of solidarity with Palestine. So, in the current humanitarian crisis, what role can African countries play in alleviating the suffering of Palestinians?
