New York Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency on Friday ahead of winter storm Devin which was expected to dump.
The National Weather Service issued warnings of winter storm Devin Friday afternoon which "will cause hazardous travel conditions for the Great Lakes into the northern Mid-Atlantic and southern New England today through Saturday morning."
Five to eight inches (12.7 - 20 cm) of snow are expected to fall in some areas, and western Pennsylvania is expected to experience an ice storm.
A powerful post-Christmas blizzard is gripping the Northeast, bringing chaos to travel plans. As of Friday night, 1,600 flights across the US had been cancelled and 7,400 had been delayed, according to flight tracking website FlightAware.
