A pipe bomb has exploded near the Israeli embassy in Cyprus, causing little damage and no casualties, according to police.

Cypriot police said on Saturday that the blast occurred about 30 to 40 meters from the embassy at 1:37 am local time (2237 GMT on Friday) in the capital city of Nicosia.

It added that four suspects, who are reportedly Syrian, had been arrested in connection to the incident which took place as the Zionist regime's onslaught continues with deadly attacks against innocent Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.

At least 4,380 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli air strikes since the resistance movement Hamas launched a surprise attack against the occupation forces on Oct. 7.

The four arrested suspects were said to be aged between 17 and 21, two of whom were on foot near the explosion scene, while the other two were in a car parked on a street close by. One suspect, reportedly in his car, had knives and a hammer.

Police have tightened security around the Israeli embassy and other significant sites linked to the Zionist regime, such as a Jewish temple in the southern port town of Larnaca.

Cyprus is located 250 kilometers from the Israeli coastline and cruise ships regularly sail from Haifa to Limassol.

The Mediterranean island is a popular destination for Israelis during tourism seasons. They make up the second-largest national visitor group after Britons.
