Raeisi hails Iranian taekwondokas on Asian cadet poomsae championship

Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi has lauded the country’s Iranian taekwondo fighters for their brilliant performance at the 5th edition of the Asian Cadet Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Lebanon. 

In a message on Sunday, Raeisi extended his felicitations to Iranian female and male taekwondo practitioners and congratulated them on winning the championship and finishing runner-up respectively at the continental competitions.

"The glorious victory is a testimony to the competence of the young Iranian athletes," he said.

He also thanked the coaches and related officials for their strenuous efforts and wished them greater success in all international arenas.

On Saturday, the Iranian girls stood atop the podium at the Nouhad Naufal Indoor Stadium in the Lebanese capital city of Beirut, thanks to stellar displays of spinning kicks and fast-kicking techniques.

Taekwondo fighters from Thailand finished in the second place. They were followed by representatives from Chinese Taipei, who claimed the third spot.

Iranian boys were ranked second in the contests.

Chinese Taipei taekwondo practitioners won the championship title, and Thai athletes ended up in the third slot.

The 5th edition of the Asian Cadet Taekwondo Poomsae Championships was staged in Beirut, Lebanon, on September 9, 2023.
