Killing of Palestinian toddler

The recent killing of a Palestinian toddler by Israeli forces in a village in the occupied West Bank has drawn widespread condemnation. The UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process called to hold to account the perpetrators of the crime. Tor Wennesland said civilians, particularly children, continue to bear the brunt of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation also slammed Israel for killing two-year-old Mohammed Al-Tamimi and demanded an independent international probe. The Palestinian Foreign Ministry described Mohammed’s killing as a heinous crime and a crime against humanity. The ministry also rejected Israel’s informal probe, saying it lacks merit and is aimed at misleading the world. On Monday, Mohammed Al-Tamimi succumbed to a gunshot wound to his head he sustained during an Israeli raid on Nabi Saleh village.

The UN Security Council met later in the day to discuss the incident. Ukraine has blamed Russia for what it called the largest manmade disaster in Europe in decades.
