US ‘obviously’ blew up Nord Stream gas pipelines, French politician says

A well-known French politician says reports about the United States blowing up the Nord Stream pipelines are obviously true, given that Washington had been opposing the project from the beginning.

It has long been obvious that the United States was behind last year’s sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines, Florian Philippot, leader of The Patriots party said in an interview published on Friday.

Russia had built the two gas pipelines to deliver inexpensive natural gas to Western Europe.

“Even before the war in Ukraine, the US for years fought against Nord Stream, it was a permanent part of their policy,” Philippot told RIA Novosti in the interview.

“In early February 2022, [US President Joe] Biden said the Americans could make it so that the pipeline was no more. That’s what happened. And it was in the interest of the Americans,” according to the right-wing French politician.

Internationally-recognized investigative journalist Seymour Hersh reported last month that Biden personally ordered the sabotaging of the Russian pipelines and the operation was done with the aid of Norway.

In his report, which was published on his blog, Hersh posited his argument by quoting an unnamed source while expressing viewpoints similar to the ones expressed by Philippot.

On February 7, 2022, at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Biden threatened Russia that if the Ukraine crisis continued, “there will be no longer a Nord Stream” gas pipeline to Europe.

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched its special military operation in Ukraine.

On September 26, 2022, bombs blasted the two Nord Stream pipelines, stopping Russian gas flowing to Europe.

Biden, who had authorized the bombing attack, allowed the US special services to classify the Nord Stream sabotage operation in such a way that would not oblige the government to inform the US Congress about the bombing beforehand, Hersh pointed out.
