Somalia's war on terror

Al-Shabab terrorists, has wreaked havoc on Somalia for over a decade now. The Somalian government has failed to rein in the ever-expanding tentacles of this Al Qaeda linked terrorist group which continues to increase its attacks across Somalia and especially in the capital Mogadishu.

Recently al Shabab terrorists carried out a devastating 30-hour at a hotel in Somalia's capital Mogadishu leaving over 2O dead. This week in the first part of our program we are focussing on an upsurge of terrorists attacks in Somalia despite claims by the United States that it is actively combating the Al Shabab terrorists in this country. We are asking, what exactly is the US military doing in Somalia?

The second part of our show is on plans by Algeria, Niger and Nigeria to revive a decades-old project to pipe gas across the Sahara to Europe? We are asking will the project take off this time or is it just a pipe dream?
