Ukrainian forces blowing up schools in besieged Donetsk

A daily occurrence in Donetsk. A building going up in smoke. It was hit by Ukrainian shelling. This time it’s an industrial warehouse. But targets like this are not usual.

There are dozens more. So why is Ukraine purposely targeting schools? In 2014, when the shelling began, former Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko made this famous speech.

In 2014, school 57 was hit on the exact day the students returned for the school year. At least 10 people were killed. During eight years of conflict, 117 children have been killed here.

The Ukrainian government claims this city is still part of its country. The people who live here, it’s own.

The inescapable fact is that NATO is arming a country that is using its weapons to blow up, as it claims, its own schools, and to target children.

Perhaps the most shocking part of this story is that most of the world has turned a blind eye to the mountain of evidence of these crimes for eight years.
