Iran-Venezuela ties

Iran has expressed readiness to expand ties in all fields, including energy and technology, with Venezuela. Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, made the comment during a press conference with his Venezuelan counterpart in Tehran. The top Iranian diplomat said Tehran and Caracas have very close ties in multiple areas. Amir-Abdollahian noted that Iran and Venezuela are set to sign a 20-year cooperation agreement during a visit by Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro, to Tehran in the coming months. Amir-Abdollahian also slammed the United States for pursuing a hostile policy against Venezuela. For his part, Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Felix Plasencia Gonzalez, expressed hope that Tehran and Caracas can draw a roadmap to expand their long-term cooperation.

Terrorism in Afghanistan

Iran’s president says the increasing number of terrorist acts is in line with Washington’s destabilizing strategy in Afghanistan. Ebrahim Raeisi said the Afghan rulers are expected not to shirk responsibility for the care of their national security. He also stressed that the Islamic Republic is ready to cooperate with Afghanistan to provide stability and security for the nation. Last Friday, multiple bomb explosions ripped through a Shia mosque during the Friday prayers in the city of Kandahar, leaving more than 40 worshipers dead. In another attack, a week before, more than 50 Shia worshipers lost their lives in a Daesh-claimed bombing of a mosque in the northern city of Kunduz.

Israeli Al-Aqsa violations

Scores of Israeli settlers have stormed the al-Aqsa mosque compound in occupied East al-Quds. The break-in was carried out under the protection of Israeli forces. The settlers performed prayers in the courtyards of the mosque and took pictures. Israeli officials have been allowing settler incursions into the mosque compound since 2003, under the protection of security forces. Non-Muslim prayers are prohibited at the site under an agreement between Israel and Jordan, which is the custodian of the holy sites in al-Quds.. Back in May, Israeli violence against Palestinian worshipers led to an 11-day war between Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza and the Israeli regime. Some 260 Palestinians were killed in the conflict.
