Iran vows swift US retaliation

Iran’s Defense Minister issued a sharp warning to Washington, hitting back at the US President’s meddlesome remarks on protests in Iran. Brigadier General Nasirzadeh said Iran will respond to threats without hesitation. He stressed that Iran’s current capabilities are far beyond those of the 12-day war. Nasirzadeh warned that if any threat targets the Islamic Republic, the armed forces will respond with full force and decisiveness. On his social media account, Trump claimed that if protesters are shot in Iran, the US will come to their rescue. Several days ago, protests against cost-of-living erupted in Tehran and a number of cities. The protests turned violent in some locations, with public properties being targets of vandalism.

Saudi Arabia strikes Yemen

At least seven people have been killed in Saudi airstrikes targeting southern Yemen. Saudi warplanes launched multiple strikes against forces of the Southern Transitional Council, a group backed by the United Arab Emirates, in Hadramout province. The attacks come amid fierce clashes between Saudi-backed “Deraa al-Watan” units and the UAE-aligned STC. Both sides are reported to have used medium and heavy weapons, intensifying tensions in this strategic southern region. The confrontation follows last month’s advances by the STC, when the group seized an oil-rich area. The move heightened friction between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi. In response, Saudi Arabia demanded that the UAE withdraw its forces from Yemen within 24 hours and halt all military and financial support to local factions.
