Yemen retaliatory strike

The Yemeni army says it has carried out a fresh retaliatory drone strike on Abha international airport in Saudi Arabia’s Asir province. Army spokesman, Yahya Saree, said the two Qassef 2-K drones successfully hit military positions at the airport. He said the attack was conducted in response to the Kingdom’s aggression and continued siege of Yemen. Saudi Arabia launched a deadly war on its southern neighbor in March 2015 to reinstate a friendly regime there. The war has left tens of thousands of Yemenis dead, many of them women and children.

Ukraine NATO membership

Russia has expressed concern over talks for Ukraine to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Ukraine’s NATO membership would be a red line for Moscow. He made the remarks a day after US President Joe Biden and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin held talks in Geneva. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian foreign minister said Russia holds no veto power over his country’s accession to NATO. Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky said he wanted a clear answer from Biden on giving Kiev a plan to join the alliance. Washington says Ukraine needs to root out corruption and meet other criteria before it could join. Tensions between Russia and Ukraine hiked in 2014 when conflict flared up in Eastern Ukraine following a declaration of independence by pro-Russian forces.
