Condemning US threats

Iran has unequivocally condemned the US president’s latest threats to use force against Tehran’s missile and nuclear programs, describing them as a manifest and flagrant violation of the UN Charter. Iran's ambassador made the remark in a letter to the UN chief and the president of the Security Council. Amir Saeid Iravani said by making such threats, Donald Trump seeks to deny Iran's inherent rights under the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, and its legitimate sovereign right to essential means for self-defense. He added that in the face of such reckless threats, Iran reaffirms its inalienable right to self-defense against any act of aggression. Iravani said Iran will exercise this right decisively and proportionately should its sovereignty, territorial integrity, people, or vital national interests are subjected to further acts of aggression. He stressed that the persistent inaction and paralysis of the Security Council in the face of such explicit threats and acts of aggression have entrenched a dangerous climate of impunity for Washington and its regional proxy, Israel. He said the council’s failure has emboldened the US and Israel to pose a grave and direct threat to regional and international peace and security. Iran's ambassador urged the Security Council and its responsible members to unequivocally and strongly condemn Washington’s explicit threat of the use of force against Tehran.

Israel bans aid organizations

The Israeli regime has decided to suspend more than two dozen humanitarian organizations from operating in Gaza, amid the territory’s catastrophic humanitarian conditions following two years of genocide. The humanitarian organizations affected by Israel’s ban include Doctors without Borders, and the charity group, OXFAM. Tel Aviv claims they have failed to meet the new rules set for aid organizations, including sharing information on their staff, funding, and operations. International organizations said Israel’s rules are arbitrary, and part of the regime’s ongoing effort to deepen the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. MSF warned that the decision will have a catastrophic impact, while rejecting the regime’s accusations about employing people engaged in military activities. Israel banned the operations of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees in 2023, claiming some of its members were involved in military operations. The regime’s new decision came four months after more than 100 aid groups accused Israel of obstructing life-saving aid from entering Gaza, and called on it to end its "weaponization" of aid.

Gaza humanitarian catastrophe

Ten countries, including eight European nations, have expressed deep concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. They urged Israel to take immediate steps to address the territory’s catastrophic situation. The statement was signed by foreign ministers of eight European countries plus Canada and Japan. They said the onset of winter has intensified civilian suffering in Gaza due to heavy rain and plummeting temperatures, making already dire living conditions even worse. The ministers stressed that around 1.3 million people remain in urgent need of shelter, while more than half of Gaza’s health facilities are only partially operational due to severe shortages in equipment and basic medical supplies. They said the near-total collapse of the territory’s sewage infrastructure has exposed around 740,000 people to the risk of toxic flooding. The ministers said the vast majority of Gaza’s population is facing extreme levels of food insecurity. They urged Israel to end its unreasonable restrictions and open Gaza’s crossings to facilitate entry of humanitarian aid into the territory.
