Third day of registration for Iran Presidential election closes with reformists showing up

Registration of Iran's 2021 presidential election is underway with more contenders entering to heat up the battle.
Scores of people have registered to take part in the 13th Iranian presidential election. On the third day, some reformist hopefuls turned up at the election office of the interior ministry. Former parliament members Ali Mottahari and Mahmoud Sadeqi presented their plans to reporters.
Mohsen Mehralizadeh was another hopeful who gave his credentials to the interior ministry to send his name to the constitutional council for final approval. He has served as governor and minister in different cabinets.
Ramin Mehmanparast, a former Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, also announced his bid to contend for the post.
On the first two days, men with military backgrounds including Mohammad Hassan Nami, ex-defense Minister Hossein Dehghan, and Saeed Mohammad, a former commander at the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), also signed up to run.
The other ones who showed up were ex-petroleum Minister Rostam Qasemi, ex-Sports Minister Mohammad Abbasi, current Deputy Parliament Speaker Amirhossein Qazizadeh Hashemi, and also some other previous parliamentarians.
Two days left until the deadline to register for the presidential election, and some high-profile figures have not shown up yet. We have to wait and see who are the final contenders to run.
