US forces transport 70 imprisoned Daesh terrorists from Syria to Jordan border: Report
US forces have transported 70 imprisoned members of the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group from the northeastern Syrian province of Hasakah to their bases on the Jordan border, a report says.
Syria's official news agency SANA reported on Monday that the prison is controlled by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and the bases are in the al-Tanf border area.
The militants were shifted from the southern entrance of Hasaka to the bases in al-Tanf, the report added.
In April 2020, US troops transported a number of Daesh terrorists from Hasakah to Iraq.
Speculations are that Washington has, either directly or indirectly, supported the terrorist group through its regional allies in the past few years.
Numerous accounts have emerged alleging airlifts, weapon air-drops and aerial support for the Takfiri outfit, particularly as its strength diminished in Syria and Iraq.
Thousands of Daesh terrorists escaped from Syrian jails, as Kurdish prison guards were focused on fighting back the Turkish military that had been engaged in an operation against Kurds in northeastern Syria.
Daesh has already been driven out of all its urban bastions both in Iraq and Syria, but its remnants carry out sporadic terror attacks in both countries.
Senior US officials have on occasions complained about Washington’s policies in Syria, arguing that the approaches made by the administration of President Donald Trump have left American troops stuck in a ‘forgotten war’ and guarding oil and gas resources there, while the Iranian military advisors and Russian troops are making advances and help the Damascus government recover.
