Yemen’s army spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, says the outcome of a year of military achievements by the armed forces edges on the impossible. In a press conference in the Yemeni capital Sana’a, the general said 2020 saw the armed forces launch hundreds of attacks by ballistic missiles and drones inside Saudi Arabia.

In 2020, Yemen’s missile force launched 253 ballistic missiles and conducted hundreds of drone operations against vital installations deep inside Saudi territory.

On the ground, the Yemeni army carried out 974 military operations against Saudi-backed forces, which led to a number of gains including the liberation of Al-Jawf and Al-Bayda governorates from terrorist groups supported by the Saudi-led coalition.

These achievements are a result of over five years of bloody war and blockade by the Saudi-led coalition, which pushed the Yemeni army toward self-sufficiency in military terms.

2021 is expected to be another year of confrontation in which the Yemeni army prepares to take on new challenges by further developing its defensive might.
