Portugal and Juventus forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, has been ruled out for next week's Champions League showdown against Barcelona, after testing positive once again for COVID-19.

The Portuguese star had been initially diagnosed with the virus while he was on international duty last Tuesday, before flying back to Turin the following day, where he went into self-isolation.

However, Ronaldo has now returned a second positive test, meaning he will miss the chance to face his old foe Lionel Messi next Wednesday.

According to the UEFA protocol, players must test negative at least one week prior to a match date to be considered eligible for selection.

Juve, however, are going to hold further discussions with UEFA to see whether or not, a negative test within 48 hours of the match can change their decision.
