Yemeni coastguards seize three vessels in Red Sea

Yemen's Ansrallah says its coastguards seized three vessels just three miles off Hudaydah's coastline, near Oqban island. The seized vessels, two Korean ones and a Saudi flagged ship were later on taken to Alsalief port. According to Houthi officials the vessels have violated Yemen's sovereignty.

Experts say such regular patrol by coastguards was the right procedure in defending the country's regional waters.

Riyadh, along with some Arab allies, has waged a deadly war on Yemen since 2015. Ansarullah has responded, partly by targeting Saudi interests, including its vessels off Yemeni coasts.

Monday's action by Yemen's coastguards sends a strong message that any future violations of the country's sovereignty will not be tolerated anymore.
