Moscow has hosted an international conference on the challenges that the Muslim world is facing today. The theme of the International Scientific-Practical Conference was Islam, Muslim heritage and intercultural dialogue.

The conference was attended by delegates including religious leaders and scientists from around the world. The participants discussed different ways to use Islam and Muslim heritage to establish interfaith and intercultural dialogue amid certain western country’s efforts to sow discords among Islamic world.

According to the participants, one of the main challenges that Muslims face today is the fragmentation of the Muslim community which paves the way for emergence of violent groups with destructive ideas.

The International Scientific-Practical Conference was held to mark the 115 anniversary of Moscow cathedral Mosque and 160th birthday anniversary of the outstanding religious figure, Mufti Rizaetdin Fakhretdin, as well as the 20th anniversary of the Moscow Islamic Institute.
