Iran beaten by Chinese Taipei in 2018 Asian Boys' U18 Volleyball Championship

The Iran men’s national under-18 volleyball team has sustained its first defeat at the preliminary round of 2018 Asian Boys' U18 Volleyball Championship, losing to the Chinese Taipei squad.

On Saturday evening, the Iranian team, which had moved past Thailand 3-1 (25-19, 25-20, 22-25 and 25-19) in its opening match the previous day, lost to Chinese Taipei outfit in straight sets (20-25, 23-25 and 19-25) at the indoor Shahid Poursharifi Arena in northwestern Iranian city of Tabriz.

The 2018 Asian Boys' U18 Volleyball Championship kicked off on June 29, and will run through July 6.

The Iran men’s national under-18 volleyball team is pitted against Chinese Taipei and Thailand in Pool B of Division 1.

Pool A1 consists of China, Japan and South Korea.  

Australia, Hong Kong and Sri Lanka are drawn in Pool C1.
