These are the headlines we are tracking for you in this episode of On the News Line:

Jordan wary of Saudi Crown Prince Salman’s aspirations

The King of Jordan has arrested his own brothers and cousin. King Abdullah is reported to have arrested the three men at their homes after they allegedly spoke to Saudi and Emirati leaders about a coup against him.  Jordan has close but uneasy relationships with Saudi Arabia and the UAE. But Amman has already made it clear that it is wary of the aspirations of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Like many others in the Middle East, the Jordanians have been rather skeptical of Bin Salman’s rapid cultural, economic, and strategic shift in the kingdom and the region.

No justification behind US plans to stay in Syria

With terrorists being on their last legs in Syria, the conflict ravaging the country is reaching a turning point, which is seen by many as an endgame for foreign-backed militants. The army has regained 85 percent of Syrian territory from the militants. Among other terror groups, Daesh has been totally defeated. This has removed the US pretext for its military presence in Syria. And it seems there is no rationale behind it any longer.
