Iran hapkido team ranks 2nd in Jincheon World Youth Martial Arts Masterships

The national Iranian hapkido team has displayed great physical and mental skills at the first edition of Jincheon World Youth Martial Arts Masterships in South Korea, and managed to finish in the second place overall at the international tournament.

Having secured one gold, four silver and six bronze medals, the Islamic Republic of Iran stood behind the hosts, with four gold, two silver and five bronze medals.

China collected three silver and two bronze medals to secure the third place.

Mostafa Esmaeili won Iran’s sole gold medal in the final contest of men’s minus 50-kilogram weight category.

Mahbod Zamanpour, Amir Hossein Rasouli, Younes Hashempour and Taha Es’haqi got four silver medals in the minus 55-kilogram, minus 60-kilogram, over 75-kilogram, and minus 80-kilogram sections respectively.

Additionally, Amir Hossein Zahraei, Seyyed Taha Kiaei, Mohammd Javad Dalir, Ali Haqparast and Ali Khantabar claimed the third spot in the minus 40-kilogram, minus 50-kiloggram, minus 60-kilogram, minus 75-kilogram and over 75-kilogram weight divisions, and grabbed six bronze medals.

The first edition of Jincheon World Youth Martial Arts Masterships started on November 3, and finished on November 7, 2017.

Hapkido is a highly eclectic Korean martial art. It is a form of self-defense that employs joint locks, grappling, and throwing techniques similar to those of other martial arts, as well as kicks, punches, and other striking attacks.
