Two Iranian para-taekwondo fighters top-ranked in world

Iranian para-taekwondo practitioners Saeid Sadeghianpour and Mahdi Pourrahnama Ahmad have been named the world’s best athletes in the K42 and K44 classifications in the October edition of the World Taekwondo rankings.

Sadeghianpour claimed the top ranking spot of the under 61-kilogram K42 division with 146.00 points.

He stood ahead of Mongolian para-athlete Shinebayar Batbayar, who garnered 107.20 points.

Turkish para-taekwondo fighter Mehmet Sami Sarac, Evgenii Alifirenko from Russia, Uzbek sportsman Sanjarbek Muhtorov and Nigeria’s Samson Saaondo Ukpera landed in the third to the sixth places, having tallied 106.40, 60.60, 53.64 and 50.80 points respectively.

Pourrahnama Ahmad claimed the top of his class in the men’s under 75-kilogram K44. The Iranian collected 169.00 points and increased his lead over American para-athlete Felix Sabates to 109.63 points.

Vitalii Nazarenko from Russia occupied the third slot with 55.23 points.

Fellow Iranian Asghar Aziaghdam (men’s over 75-kilogram K44) was named No.3 in the world after collecting 115.20 points.

American Evan Medell took the top of the rankings with 118.86.

Corbin Stacey, also from the United States, finished in the second place, having gained 115.83 points.
