Six people have been killed in a shooting attack on a mosque in CanadaQuebec, according to police, who have arrested two suspects in the case. Quebec police said later that eight other people had also been wounded in the shooting attack, and that they had no reason to believe that gunmen other than the two arrested had been involved.

A London-based activist and Islamic scholar believes Islamophobia is behind this terrorist attack adding this phenomenon is spreading across the world by the likes of US President Donald Trump.

“This fellow who went around and committed this terrorist act, he would have been from the type of people that support Donald Trump and some of the more right-wing people and he would have said that look my government is giving in to these refugees and so I have to do something and this is the nature of Islamophobia,” Shabbir Hassanally told Press TV in an interview on Monday.

He also noted that Islamophobia is a “huge Zionist-funded, Zionist-orchestrated campaign” against the entire world, adding that it is creating a climate of “fear, confusion, and hate”.

The activist further noted Trump’s “ridiculous decisions” are fomenting Islamophobia, arguing that they can only be described as a “Zionist psychosis”.

He went on to say if people are constantly fed with this hate against Islam, then ultimately they will feel that Muslims are the “central cause” of all of their problems.

Hassanally further criticized the international community for keeping silent about the spike in hate crimes against Muslims especially after 9/11 attacks.
