US asks Russia not to attack Nusra Front militants in Syria

- Iraqi forces are continuing with their offensive to drive Daesh terrorists out of their stronghold in Fallujah city in Anbar province. Iraqi commanders say the large number of civilians kept as hostage inside the city is slowing down their advance.
- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says Washington has asked Moscow not to attack Nusra Front militants in Syria. Lavrov said the US fears that attacking the al-Qaeda-linked group might endanger what it calls moderate rebels. The Russian official noted that fighting Nusra and Daesh should be a top priority in Syria.
- Air France flight attendants plan to go on a week-long strike in protest at pay conditions. The walkout will start on July 27. Air France flight attendants unions said the notice is sufficiently long to allow the management to engage in responsible talks.
- The leader of UK’s Independence party has accused the British prime minister of lying about ability to control immigration under the European Union. Nigel Farage added that in order to manage the flow of immigration, Britain must vote to leave the bloc.
- Hundreds of people have gone missing after a boat carrying refugees capsized off the Greek island of Crete. Greek search and rescue teams have managed to save at least 340 refugees. Only nine bodies have been recovered so far.
- Thousands of Yemeni people have rallied in Sana’a to denounce Saudi Arabia’s deadly war on their country. The protesters pledged to remain steadfast in the face of Saudi aggression and against other countries supporting the war on Yemen.
- Bahrainis have staged a protest in the village of Diraz calling for the release of all political prisoners especially al-Wefaq leader Sheikh Ali Salman. The protesters are also furious over a court decision that more than doubled Slaman’s jail term for allegedly inciting violence.
- Five US soldiers have died after their truck overturned in a flooded area in the state of Texas. The team was on a routine training mission when their truck was swept away in a flash flood. Officials say four soldiers are still missing and that a search operation is underway.
