The Indian-controlled Kashmir has observed a shutdown on October 27 which is known as Black Day. It marks the arrival of Indian forces in the region back in 1947. Pro-independence leaders describe the event as the day of occupation, arguing that Indian forces’ arrival was against Kashmiris’ wishes.
