UK Election 2015

Green Party

Leader: Natalie Bennett

The Green is a formally organized political party based on ideologies supporting social justice, grassroots democracy, nonviolence, and environmentalism, among others. Also known as the Green Party UK was succeeded the Ecology Party after a change in 1985. Mainstream political parties were however alarmed by the Greens' electoral performance and adopted some 'Green policies' in an attempt to counter the threat. The Green had its representation both in House of Lords and House of Commons. It represented last parliament with one lawmaker. Over the years, the party has expanded its membership not only in the UK general elections but also in the EU parliamentary poll.

Election promises:

• Scrap university tuition fees

• Bring academies and free schools into the local authority system

• Ensure all teachers are qualified and end performance-related pay

• Scrap Ofsted and SATS
