Iran team comes 1st in Deaf Futsal World Cup

Iranian deaf futsal players jubilate after being crowned at the end of the 2015 Deaf Futsal World Cup in Thailand.

Iran men’s national deaf futsal team has impressed the spectators in the final match of the 2015 Deaf Futsal World Cup in Thailand, and stood atop the podium.

On Saturday, the hearing-impaired Iranian sportsmen routed the hosts 8-3 in a match staged at the indoor Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok.

The Persians made a promising start, and placed the opposite side under pressure until Ali Akbar Ahmadvand grasped an ideal chance in the fourth minute and tacked the opener for Iran.

Iranian futsal players sustained the momentum and Mostafa Heydari doubled the Islamic Republic’s lead a minute later.

Shortly afterward, Thailand’s Arnothai Sathiyamas was on target and opened the scoring for the hosts.

Heydari nailed his second goal of the match in the 6th minute, before slipping the ball past Thai goalkeeper Weerasak Kosit once again and putting Iran 4-1 ahead.

Thailand’s Jamrong Bona then sprang into action and did his utmost to narrow the deficit to 2-4 in the eighth minute.

Two minutes later, Heydari scored his fourth goal of the game, and Mazaher Shirzad Siboni added two more to Iran’s goal tally in the space of sixty seconds – in the 13th and 14th minute.

Heydari made his fifth goal of the day in the 17th minute, before Bona scored Thailand’s third at the turn of the period.

Neither team had produced a goal for almost the entire second half, until Shirzad Siboni put the final nail in the hosts’ coffin with two minutes to go and sealed Iran’s resounding 8-3 win.

Earlier in the day, Russia beat the Netherlands 7-4 in the third-place playoff match.

The 2015 Deaf Futsal World Cup opened in Bangkok on November 20, and wrapped up on November 28.
