Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei will host a commemoration ceremony for his father, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who was martyred in US-Israeli air raids on Iran.
In an announcement on Sunday, the Leader’s Office said that the memorial will be held on behalf of the Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time on Tuesday.
“Undoubtedly, the presence of mourners at the ceremony will reaffirm the unbreakable covenant to continue on the path of the martyred Khamenei and renew the pledge of allegiance to the righteous successor of the martyred Imam,” it added.
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was assassinated, alongside some of his family members, on February 28, the first day of the 40-day illegal war of aggression waged by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran.
On March 8, Iran’s Assembly of Experts officially appointed Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the new Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
The mass funeral and farewell ceremonies for the late Leader took place in Iran and Iraq on July 3-10.
The final burial took place at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS), the eighth Shia Imam, in the Iranian city of Mashhad in the early hours of Friday.
According to estimates, between 41 and 43 million people participated in the funeral procession across Iran and Iraq, making the funeral the largest of its kind in the world.
