The commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Ground Force says servicemen from his elite forces, as well as the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, dealt crushing blows to terrorist separatist groups during the recent US-Israeli war of aggression on the country.

Brigadier General Mohammad Karami stated on Thursday that Washington and the Tel Aviv regime armed terrorist groups in the southeastern and northwestern parts of Iran in the course of their 40-day onslaught, and instructed them to carry out various acts of terror and sabotage.

“The IRGC and Army forces, however, stood side by side and pounded the positions of these groups in a preemptive move,” he added.

The senior Iranian military commander also highlighted the role of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in enhancing the country's defense capabilities, stating that he directly supervised defense and military issues and closely monitored new military developments worldwide.

“He used to lay particular emphasis on scientific development and employment of leading-edge technologies in the [Iranian] Armed Forces, and frequently stated that future wars would be the scene of confrontation between technologies. Accordingly, a multi-stage vision plan for the Armed Forces was drawn up, and was being pursued under his direction,” General Karami noted.

He continued that the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution always stressed the need for combat readiness of Iranian Armed Forces, and their preparedness to respond promptly and properly to any potential threat.

After the 12-day war of June 2025, and under his guidance, necessary mechanisms and strategies were redefined to confront future threats and further enhance the country's defense capabilities, General Karami stated.

The commander of the IRGC Ground Forces added that the results of these plans were plainly evident during the recent US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran, and the country’s Armed Forces, despite the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei and high-profile military commanders, were able to deliver a decisive and appropriate response to the US-Zionist enemy within a short period of time.

“This breakthrough was the result of meticulous and thoughtful planning, and the Armed Forces’ full implementation of strategies mapped out by the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution,” General Karami said.

Ayatollah Khamenei was martyred during a coordinated US-Israeli attack on Tehran on February 28, 2026, at the beginning of a 40-day war of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The war was characterized by unwavering national resistance and retaliatory actions by the Iranian Armed Forces, which ultimately compelled the aggressors to cease their military operations.

Ayatollah Khamenei's assassination drew condemnations worldwide, and millions of people in Iran and throughout the region mourned his martyrdom.
