Bombings will not get 'unhinged US president out of quagmire': Iranian generals

Iranian officials have warned the country's armed forces would ensure the war becomes a quagmire for whomever chooses to pursue an invasion.

The spokesman for Iran's Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces says the country's military is fully prepared to confront threats from the United States and Israel and will not retreat in the face of pressure from aggressors.

Brigadier General Reza Talaei-Nik said Thursday, “Any crossing of the Islamic Republic’s red lines by the enemy will face a decisive, regret-inducing and harsh punitive response.”

“Iran's armed forces are at the highest level of readiness with backing from the country's defense industry,” he stated.

Talaei-Nik also stressed that Iran's defense capabilities are stronger now than they were at the outset of the latest US-Israeli aggression against the country.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has not initiated any war, but it does not compromise in defending its national security, independence, and territorial integrity,” he said.

The spokesman added that Tehran’s adversaries “must accept a ceasefire and halt hostile actions on all fronts.”

“The enemies of the Islamic Republic must accept the fact that the solution to regional problems is not the continuation of aggression, insecurity and war-mongering,” he said.

Reiterating earlier remarks by General Talaei-Nik, senior Iranian military spokesman Abolfazl Shekarchi said on Thursday that the Islamic Republic is now militarily stronger than it was at the outset of the latest US-Israeli-imposed war.

Meanwhile, Mohsen Rezaei, an adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, said on Thursday that the “mentally deranged” US president is under the illusion that bombs could pull him out of a crisis of his own making.

“The unhinged US president thinks that bombs can get him out of the quagmire he himself created, but Iranian missiles will sink him even deeper,” Rezaei said.

He added that Washington would have to make difficult decisions if it sought to end the aggression.

“Washington must choose between accepting Iran's terms and losing the last shred of its credibility in the world,” Rezaei stated.

He also rejected claims by the United States and its allies that Iran’s air defense systems had been destroyed and that the country’s defensive capabilities had been significantly weakened.

Iran has repeatedly warned the United States and its allies against military adventurism, issuing warnings amid a stalemate in negotiations aimed at ending the third imposed war.

The third war of aggression against Iran was launched by the US-Israeli coalition on February 28, prompting Iran to respond forcefully by targeting US bases across the region.
