Hezbollah launches rocket attacks on Israeli military sites, downs two Hermes 450 drones

Lebanese Hezbollah resistance fighters prepare to launch rockets at Israeli military positions inside the occupied territories.

Hezbollah resistance fighters have targeted several Israeli military installations and managed to intercept and shoot down two intruding Hermes 450 multi-role tactical drones in the skies near the border between Lebanon and the occupied territories.

The group said in a series of statements that a gathering of Israeli occupation forces stationed on the eastern outskirts of Yohmor al-Shaqif region was targeted in the early hours of Monday, using rockets and artillery shells.

Hezbollah noted that the projectiles hit their designated targets precisely, and there were casualties among the ranks of the Israeli troops.

Hezbollah fighters also struck an Israeli military installation in the occupied city of Tiberias with a barrage of rockets. There were no immediate reports about possible casualties or the extent of damage caused.

Additionally, Hezbollah air defense units could detect and bring down an Israeli Hermes 450 long-endurance surveillance drone over the Bekaa Valley region, using a surface-to-air missile.

Another Hermes 450 multi-role tactical drone was tracked and destroyed with a surface-to-air missile as it was flying over an area in southwestern Lebanon.

The Lebanese resistance group has consistently stated that its actions are strictly defensive, focused on safeguarding the territory and citizens of Lebanon from the ongoing invasions and abuses by Israel.

In recent times, the use of Hezbollah drones, especially the fiber-optic-guided ones, has increasingly worried Israeli officials because they are hard to spot and intercept.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has referred to these drones as a “significant threat” and has called on the military to find effective ways to combat them.

On March 2, Hezbollah launched military operations against the Israeli regime in response to its aggression against Iran, its repeated violations of the 2024 ceasefire, and its continued occupation of Lebanese territory in the country’s south.

Following the Iran-US ceasefire on 8 April, Tel Aviv was compelled to accept a ceasefire in Lebanon as well, after Tehran demanded an end to Israeli attacks on Lebanese soil as one of its primary conditions in indirect negotiations with Washington.

The Israeli military, however, quickly resumed its assaults on southern Lebanon, issuing evacuation threats for several areas even after the initial ten-day truce between Tel Aviv and Beirut was extended.

According to Lebanese authorities, since March 2, the Israeli military has killed more than 3,371 people, injuring over 10,129, and displacing over 1.6 million individuals.
