Israeli army implements Gaza-style 'yellow line' in south Lebanon

This undated file picture shows Israeli military forces at an undisclosed location in southern Lebanon.

The Israeli army has established "Yellow Line" military zones and buffer areas across the southern part of Lebanon to keep control over its occupied territories there during the ongoing 10-day ceasefire.

The tactical framework, modeled after segregation zones in Gaza, designates specific seized territories as closed military zones, rendering 55 Lebanese villages strictly off-limits to returning residents to ensure the safety of Israeli occupation troops.

The army said since the ceasefire took effect, Israeli soldiers positioned south of the Yellow Line have identified multiple incidents in which some people approached their positions from the north, claiming that they posed an immediate threat to the troops.

In return, the Israeli air force and ground force units carried out a series of strikes in south Lebanon.

Artillery fire was also deployed to support ground troops, and to destroy sites to facilitate attacks on occupation troops.

Under the so-called "Yellow Line" policy, the Israeli army remains active within the buffer zones to execute the demolition of alleged positions of Hezbollah resistance fighters.

Iran's insistence on its principled position that an end to the Israeli aggression on Lebanon is a major condition for any progress in negotiations with the American side has paid off.

Since last week’s negotiations between Iranian and US delegations in Islamabad on an end to the US-Israeli aggression on Iran, Tehran has kept pushing for a ceasefire in Lebanon as a major condition for any progress in the talks and the start of the second round of negotiations.

This finally forced the US and the Israeli regime to agree to a ceasefire that took effect on Thursday night.

Israel was trying to continue the war on Lebanon despite the ceasefire in Iran, and the United States was also trying to evade this issue by violating its initial commitments.

But Iran stood its ground and ultimately forced US President Donald Trump and the Tel Aviv regime to comply on this issue.
