Iranian athletes captured two gold medals and one bronze on the third day of the 15th World Taekwondo Junior Championships in Tashkent.
The six-day premier global tournament at the Olympic Sports Complex has drawn 986 competitors from 115 nations. Iran has fielded a robust 19-athlete squad, comprising 10 boys and 9 girls, across the 20 weight classes.
In the girls' +68 kg category, Hana Zarrinkamar secured Iran's second gold of the event.
She defeated Greece’s Pramatioti (2-0), the Netherlands' Vroegh (2-1), Tunisia's Ilef Aleya (2-0), and Croatia's Sara Zizic (2-0) before decisively sweeping the Czech Republic’s Binova 2-0 in the final.
Benyamin Soltanian was equally dominant in the boys' -73 kg, claiming gold without dropping a single round.
After a first-round bye, he swept Greece’s Kamakas, Bosnia’s Hodzic, Mexico’s Joshua Cruz, and Ukraine’s Roman Hodyma 2-0. He then blanked South Korea’s Seung Min Ahn 2-0 in the title bout to capture Iran's third overall gold.
In the girls' -42 kg, Bahar Tahmasebi earned a hard-fought bronze. She overcame Egypt’s Judy (2-1), Russia’s Selezneva, Germany’s Zander (2-0), and Spain’s Adria Lopez (2-0). Her run ended in the semifinals with a narrow 2-1 defeat to South Korea’s Lee Geunmi.
These victories build upon Iran's early momentum in Uzbekistan. On Monday, Mohammad Erfan Khodaei dominated the tatami in the boys' -55 kg, winning all six of his matches without losing a round to claim Iran's first gold, alongside a bronze medal won earlier by Pinar Lotfizadeh.
