A senior Iranian Sunni cleric warns that the country's Kurdish population will not fall for the same “divisive and exploitative” policy that the United States has implemented in Syria and Iraq.

Mamotsa Iqbal Bahmani, a senior Sunni cleric and member of Iran's Expediency Council, made the remarks on Monday, cautioning his community against placing trust in Washington.

“Following years of collaboration with the US, Kurds in Syria and Iraq finally fell victim to its policies. This shows that Washington is simply pursuing its own interests. Kurds in Iran will never repeat such an experience,” Bahmani stated.

The cleric said that US hostility toward both the Iranian nation and its Kurdish citizens is a historical constant. He accused the US of deceiving Kurds in Syria with unfulfilled promises, ultimately sacrificing their rights for American strategic gains.

Bahmani pointed out that the US was instrumental in the rise of the Daesh (ISIS) terrorist group, which facilitated massacres of Kurds in the Iraqi regions of Shingal and Kirkuk.

Turning to domestic politics, Bahmani characterized the leadership of Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei as a source of hope for the Iranian people, asserting that the nation’s vigilance has consistently thwarted enemy plots.

He warned against ongoing efforts by enemies to sow sectarian division but praised the Iranian Kurdish community for its historical loyalty. "This is while the latter have frequently shown that they tend to defend the Islamic Revolution and Iran's territorial integrity at critical junctures," he said.

Concluding his remarks, Bahmani lauded the capabilities of Iran's armed forces, claiming they have challenged global superpowers through their resilience.

He pointed to recent military actions as proof of this strength, stating, "Iranian missiles are now raining down on US military bases in the region as well as cities across the Israeli-occupied territories."
