Iran’s top army commander says all enemy movements are under close surveillance, vowing a decisive response to any malicious act.
Iranian Army's Chief Commander Major General Amir Hatami made the remarks on the sidelines of a meeting with commanders and personnel of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army Air Force on Sunday.
He said the Air Force carried out its missions with courage during the 12-day Israeli-American war last June, forcing the enemy to surrender and ultimately request a ceasefire.
He emphasized that the force used the experience gained during that war to reach a high level of preparedness proportionate to current threats and conditions.
Hatami warned the enemies “not to make a new mistake”, saying that in that case, the Air Force will certainly play a major role in giving a response.
He noted that the presence of US warships in the region is nothing new, stressing the importance of maintaining the country’s combat readiness.
The top commander said the Iranian nation and armed forces would strongly defend the country’s independence and territorial integrity.
Israel launched the unprovoked war on June 13 last year while Iran was engaged in nuclear talks with the US, which also joined the aggression by striking Iranian nuclear sites.
In response, Iranian Armed Forces targeted strategic sites across the occupied territories and at Al-Udeid, the largest US military installation in West Asia.
Iran has since moved to enhance both its defensive and offensive capabilities.
The region is once again bracing for another potential military confrontation after the United States deployed air and naval forces to the region and threatened to attack the Islamic Republic.
Iranian officials have warned that any US attack would prompt an immediate response and could ignite a regional war.
In a stark warning on Saturday, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi warned that any adventurist act against the Islamic Republic will bring “strategic defeat” to enemies and spread war across the entire region.
