Another national day of protest was held in the United States, this time marking one month after Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents shockingly killed a protester in the state of Minnesota.

Eight people have been killed by ICE security forces just five weeks into 2026, which follows 32 deaths in ICE custody last year. Demonstrators demanded justice for all of them

Justice for all eight people and beyond! Obviously, there's people been suffering who [sic] fortunately are still alive, but have been victims of sexual assault, exploitation, being taken from their family, being denied medical care.

And this is not anything new. It's a continuation of things that's been going on for years and decades. This is just where it's coming out into a light lot more; they're being a lot less ashamed of it.

So that's why we want to push it back and stop, not just the fact that it's happening so visibly, but the fact that it's happening at all.

It's a moment where, hopefully, a lot of people are waking up to the reality of the situation.

Anti-ICE Protester, 01

After a year of unprecedented raids on immigrants, the Minnesota-inspired protests appear to have forced President Donald Trump to back down.

He ordered the withdrawal of 700 ICE agents from Minnesota, suggested that his administration could use a softer touch, and admitted that the murders in Minnesota should not have happened.

What's happening in the streets of America period [sic], protesters now being maimed and killed, and just taking seven or eight hundred agents off the streets of Minnesota, that's not going to solve anything, because that's just the just part of the fascism that's going on in America today.

Over the past month, the nationwide anti-ICE protests have been occurring multiple times per week.

Protesters say that defending immigrants is a paramount concern, but so is losing their democratic rights due to fears of state-sponsored violence.

He is taking rights from America, especially first amendment rights, away from Americans, by harassing people who are protesting, and in some cases arresting people who are protesting, and we have to get to the streets to fight this fascism.

Trump's approval rating has remained steady around 40%, but a new poll finds that 65% of Americans say ICE has gone too far.

Protests against ICE have even gone international, with local students in Milan protesting ICE agents providing security for American athletes at the Winter Olympic Games, which began on February 6, 2026.

The historic protests don't show any sign of slowing, which may explain Trump's recent concessions, widely considered modest, but his nationwide anti-immigrant crackdown continues unashamedly.
