Terror ringleaders in riots arrested as Iran's intelligence operations continue

Iran continues to arrest terror leaders: Intelligence ministry

Iran’s Intelligence Ministry says it has continued to identify and arrest terrorist ringleaders in Tehran with people’s effective cooperation.

Public and religious places as well as security forces have been targeted by rioters in seven major locations in Tehran during the recent unrest, the ministry said.

The rioters also set fire on two mosques, blocked one of Tehran’s key highways, and killed two members of Basij voluntary forces.

According to the chief of Iran’s police, 297 rioters, who had taken part in destroying the common property, have been identified and arrested by police forces.

Two terrorists were also killed and 17 others were injured during the recent days’ operations against terrorists.

The police have also seized many bladed weapons and firearms as well as explosive materials from the hideouts of the terrorists.

Twenty cases have been opened regarding the links of the arrested individuals with terrorist groups affiliated with the Israeli regime.

Meanwhile, the funeral ceremony of 100 martyrs of the recent foreign-backed riots was scheduled to be held on Wednesday at 2 pm local time in Tehran.

Head of the Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs Ahmad Mousavi said the martyrs, including civilians as well as security forces, were killed by different kinds of weapons including firearms, knives, axes, sabers and other edged weapons.

Peaceful protests over economic hardship escalated into riots last week, fueled by remarks by US and Israeli leaders, with armed groups damaging public property and causing casualties among civilians and security forces.

Dozens of Iranian civilians and security personnel have been martyred at the hands of the rioters, who have been confirmed by the Islamic Republic’s intelligence to have been in receipt of intelligence, operational, logistical, and financial support by Washington and the Israeli regime’s Mossad spy agency.

Iranian authorities have observed that through the riots, the country's adversaries have been seeking to make up for their failures during direct military aggression against the country.

The officials have, meanwhile, underlined on all occasions that the country exerts due effort to address economic shortcomings across various sectors, but, at the same time, stands firmly in the face of any attempt at derailing protests towards unrest.
